Review: Finding Your Roots (PBS Television Series)
The field of genealogy is not one most people would expect to generate exciting, inspiring television programming, but in the last few years at least a few offerings have stepped up to the challenge. One of the most prominent is PBS's Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
Rural Schools in Barron County
After saying yes to plotting out 150 rural schools on a current Barron County map, I began by using a current Barron County map, plat maps from 1800s, and a book titled Barron County Schools that was done in 1976 by the Barron County Retired Educators.

Obituary: Robert William Johns
Robert William Johns, age 97, of Rice Lake, WI died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Heritage Lakeside in Rice Lake.
The End is the Beginning
I didn’t really know anything about my ancestors; my mom vaguely recalled some names that “sounded about right” on my dad’s side, and the names of her mom’s parents. When I asked about her dad, whom I’d never met or heard about, my mom simply said, “You don’t have a grandfather on my side.”
